Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is a Canadian-American singer-songwriter. She has released more than 20 albums. Her music is classified as folk and alternative rock but has additional influences from punk hip hop, hip-hop and jazz. A feminist icon widely recognized as Grammy recipient Ani DiFranco is the mother of the DIY movement, and was among the pioneers of artists who started her own record label in the year 1990. DiFranco was born on the 23rd of September 1970 in New York City, York. She is the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross), who was introduced to Dante Americo DiFranco while studying at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
